Who I Am

I am Mary Hall Chiles, a trained Spiritual Director with 10 years of experience. I am a Graduate of the Souljourners Spiritual Direction Program and have a Master's Degree in Religious Studies. I have also earned a Graduate Certificate in Mediation and Conflict Resolution. I serve individuals in Springfield, Missouri, and the Ozarks. Providing a space for listening is at the heart of what I do.

What Is Spiritual Direction?

Spiritual Direction is not a clinical experience, nor is it pastoral counseling. I provide a safe, confidential space that allows for one on one or small group conversation in a quiet setting for you to explore your questions. In addition, I have hosted many retreats and would be honored to host yours. It is important to understand that you do not have to identify as religious to be spiritually curious and seek spiritual direction.

Who Spiritual Direction Can Help:

  • Members of the clergy and other caregivers

  • People questioning the shape of their spirituality

  • Those looking to deepen their spiritual understanding and connection

  • Those on a journey of self-discovery and self-help

  • Individuals who are interested in holistic health and spiritual wellness

More services:

In addition to being a Spiritual Director and providing related services, I also:

  • Facilitate small groups and offer retreats

  • Act as a speaker for churches and other organizations

what people are saying

“Mary is a thoughtful and compassionate person with the innate ability to listen deeply and hold the space for healing and self-discovery. Being in her presence is like being enveloped in a warm and comforting blanket where I feel heard and safe to explore without expectation or judgment.”

-Denise Bischof, Life Coach, Live Inspired Coaching

“My second husband and I met with Mary before we were married because of concerns about religious differences. During our sessions, Mary encouraged our discussion to focus on the spirituality of our mutual faith in Christ. Our sessions helped us focus on the beliefs we have in common rather than the differences between our church services. She also encouraged discussions about why we were each drawn to remain committed members at the churches we attend. This insight helped us understand more about each other. Four years later we have continued to follow through with the conversation and the suggestion to have holiday traditions and rituals that built on shared beliefs.”
